Lost in the Grind

I wasn’t always the holistic health practitioner and performance coach I am today.

  • An active lifestyle of bodybuilding and powerlifting however too much junk, and daily exposure to industrial toxins.

In my twenties, I was deep in the Navy, an aircraft mechanic living the high-intensity life. I hauled heavy equipment, trained relentlessly, and pushed through pain with stimulants and sheer grit. My body was breaking down, but I kept going. Shoulder injuries, chronic inflammation, and poor movement mechanics were already part of my daily reality.

Then came the moment that changed everything.

After loading a trailer with what felt like 50 tonnes of gear, I went home, slept, and woke up unable to move. I couldn’t roll over. I couldn’t breathe. A deep spinal stabilizer strain had left me paralyzed by pain. I spent weeks in bed, then in a wheelchair, then on crutches. I cycled through Sick in Quarters, Limited Light Duty, and months of frustration. I saw every kind of therapist; physical, occupational, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage. Nothing worked. The only thing that dulled the pain was heavy prescription medication, which I didn’t realize was wreaking havoc on my system.

  • Heavy duty work, working around the clock and even night shift all wrecked my vitality.

I was stuck. My body was screaming, and the system had no answers.

Out of desperation came obsession. I dove into anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics; scouring YouTube, reading everything I could find, trying to decode my own pain. That hunger led me to Paul Chek.

His work was different. It spoke to the emotional, spiritual, and behavioral roots of dysfunction. I started practicing his methods—deep integrative movement, breathwork, and inner process work. Within days, something shifted. My pain began to lift. My mindset transformed. I felt energy, clarity, and a sense of purpose I hadn’t known before.

  • A few weeks after my breakthrough, I scaled up a Douglas Fir.

  • Teaching future CHEK practitioner skills and systems.

I enrolled in the CHEK Academy and committed to the full five-year journey. Every year brought deeper healing, more insight, and a growing desire to serve. Today, I’m a Master CHEK Practitioner, and I help others reclaim their vitality through personalized wellness programs that blend orthopedic care, emotional integration, and spiritual alignment.

The 4 Phases of Corrective Exercise

Phase 1. Inner Unit Activation & Flexibility

We start with your deep stabilizing system (core, diaphragm, pelvic floor) and restoring flexibility where the body is restricted. This phase “resets” alignment, improves breathing, and lays the foundation for stability and efficient movement.

Phase 2. Inner & Outer Unit Integration

Once your inner unit is active, we integrate it with the larger muscles (outer unit) to create total-body stability. Here, you’ll feel more supported, balanced, and able to move without pain. This is a stability phase.

Phase 3. Integrated Strength

Now the whole body works as one. We focus on building functional strength through primal movement patterns—squat, lunge, push, pull, bend, twist, and gait—so your body can meet the demands of life, work, or sport.
